So Eddie Huang & Evan Huang of Baohaus recently opened up their second restaurant on 14th Street (between 2nd & 3rd ave). Eddie and I are huge fans of hiphop & rap, so we decided to collaborate on a little art project. I illustrated various items on the Baohaus menu, and via teamwork we came up with a bunch of rap verses to accompany each piece. See if you recognize any!

There will be a second art wall coming so stay tuned in the upcoming weeks! Come visit the restaurant to see these pieces for yourself!

White Rabbit will host artist Sophia Chang for her upcoming exhibition titled, "Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces". The New York-native has both presented and worked with some big names within the world of design including Undefeated, Staple, Wired, Complex, Brand New School and more.

Super awesome modern-design blog for dogs! Or should I say pets in general. Now this is definitely something to be looking at if you're a pet owner.

I definitely plan on getting a few of these items for my dogs sooner or later. Some of the doggie-homes makes me think of DesignWithinReach... but for dogs. Awesome!

Few months ago I posted some line drawings that were inspired by the Cordyceps Fungi that were featured in Planet Earth. These illustrations took a new form as watercolor monoprints. I normally don't work with watercolor, however this has been a really fun experimental-experience for me.

A side gig I did for KSA....

This was really fun and experimental for me. Never worked in this format. Collaging, posters, etc, very different from what I usually do which is very minimalistic. I had to do a lot of research and it opened up a new world for me. I discovered full on Korean bands from the 70s that imitated the Beatles such as And 4, Shin Jung Hyeon etc. There was a psychedelic musical movement there during this time! Check out these awesome album covers....

Think twice. My 6 month old Jack Russell, named Baxter (after the dog in Anchorman), recently destroyed a number of items. From the corners of my wall, to my chair, my delicates, electric cords - you name it. He's got his teeth on it at least once. Just this afternoon I found this:

I was in Duane Reade last night shopping for some toiletries for home, and I came across the toothpaste aisle. The wonderful packaging provided by Rembrandt toothpaste is so clean, simple and well done. I admit, I fell into the trap of good packaging. I guess I am bias while brushing my teeth - since the packaging is nice, the toothpaste must be great too. It wasn't bad, I admit. But I have to stay, Rembrandt's done a great job with revamping. I paid twice as much for half the amount of toothpaste I'd normally get with Colgate or Crest.

I really had to put that image first. Before you continue reading, please just take a moment and examine this "thing" from top to bottom, side to side. Ready? What. The. Heck. Is. This. #1 I guess the idea of incorporating tank wheels is a bit witty but the execution is terrible! What is up with this seating? At least make it look a bit innovative and relative to the wheels. The chair looks slapped on to these legs. And from personal experience, seating in those shapes totally hurt your back. It's... just bad. UGH!

And knowning the design process, one needs to sit down and run through sketches and sketches before finalizing a model. This is a huge disappointment in the design world. Ew.

Mr. Williams... maybe you should sit out on this one. Lay low for a while. Especially in the design world.

for the month of june i will taking summer courses at FIT. the class is called ‘art history in NYC‘. but it’s REALLY about establishments of museums in nyc, how they began and how they are today. and studying all the subliminal messages that the curators and founders put in each exhibit. i’ll also be interning with frank stockton (illustrator). check his work: www.frankstockton.com, and ill as always, be at complex mag doin my thing.

So I had the pleasure of having a table at MoCCA along with other Parsons students including Katie Turner, Beryl Chung, Lulu Wolf and Christine Young. Check out their stuff! I felt like I was in a microwave the entire time, the humidity of everyone's body sweat evaporating and condensing was absolutely delicious! I say that sarcastically. On the real though, MoCCA was an awesome experience, being in a room with upcoming artists and surrounded by printed matter! Afterall print is slowly slowly dying. I specifically enjoyed the Norwegian, Swedish and German/Berlin tables, offering some great perspective on their visual language. Just sitting at the table and watching the different unique people pass by was an experience of its own. I started sketching down all the interesting people I saw towards the end of my stay.

HEY FOLKS,

I really don't know who reads this but whatever. So I've spent a few days, weeks in LA. But before then I spent some time in NY took some pictures and I feel like uploading them. In LA I Visited SURU gallery, 88 gallery, LACMA, etc all that good art stuff out there. Even Disneyland, quite a trip literally. Here to provide the public with some photos, good stuff.

I spent New Years in Times Square

Stopped by Melrose shops and Canvas Gallery. Definitely caught my eye. Some illustration work that has to do with tattoos, tattoo art, tattoo artists, all that stuff. They even had some real Shawn Barber stuff. But there was a lot of talented work to be seen in the area.

I also stopped by 88 gallery and saw their Tribute to the Beastie Boys show that's going on right now. Real sick stuff.

and I topped everything off with a trip in Disneyland...

Numero Dos. Christmas Cards - Parsons Fundraiser
I don't even know if anyone even checks this blog but anyways, there's a Parsons Fundraiser at 55 W 13th St on Dec 4th, 2008. Christmas goodies and stuff like it. Spent some time doing some "silkscreening" with a Print Gacco Machine. Here's what I made:

So Friday I went to the ToyQube 4-year Anniversary Party. Got to see some customized Sharkys:

Also got to see Barry McGee's Beautiful Losers at the IFC theatre: Here's a picture of me and the dry-erase drawing of the "poster"

I thought it was really witty for them to do a drawing of it. It's supposed to say Beautiful Losers and an arrow that points to the entrance.. Apparently it's pointing to my friend for some reason..

Oh and the weekly PS1 Party! Metro Area was performing there live. The crowd was a bit weird with some people trippin' out, other than that the music was cool.
